The Sussex Beacon is proud to be working with Brighton & Hove City Council, the University of Brighton and the Sussex County Sports Partnership developing the event and involving the whole community.

Brighton & Hove City Council

The Sussex Beacon would like to thank Brighton & Hove City Council for their continued support with the race over the past years.

We could not provide such a race without the help and time of the Events Office and Traffic Planning who assist with the provision of the start/ finish area and the road closures across the city.

We are very pleased to be working with the Council’s Sport Development team looking at ways to increase participation in sport, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and working with their dedicated staff to encourage more young people to participate in our Youth Races.

University of Brighton

We are working with the University of Brighton on a number of levels.

1.Event Management

2010 will be the second year we have had the exceptional talents of a first year student from the International Event Management Course working with the Half Marathon team. The student gets the chance to see how a large scale event works and is able to test their skills coordinating the Youth Races under guidance from the Half Marathon Project Manager.

2.Sports Science

The Chelsea School at the University of Brighton has a reputation of excellence for sport science which the Sussex Beacon Half Marathon are very pleased to be associated with.
The Chelsea School laboratories are accredited by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science and the English Institute of Sport. Lecturers will be offering workshops to our runners as well as top tips for our e-newsletters.

Sussex County Sports Partnership

The Sussex County Sports Partnership is working with the Sussex Beacon Half Marathon to promote sport, activity and healthy lifestyles across the county.
